Teaming for Technology Quarterly Newsletter

Dear T4T Member,

This summer United Way held a retreat for the Board of Directors to help determine our direction and focus areas for the upcoming years. This led us to look at a more streamlined approach for all of the work being done here and to make some significant changes, the first of which is our new partnership with NPower PA. On September 1, 2006 we officially partnered with NPower PA to create a co-branded technology assistance program. We are very excited to have this new collaborative partner who will allow us to reach more organizations and have a greater impact on the community. If you did not receive a letter outlining this partnership please feel free to contact me directly!

The second change I would like to share is an evolution in our internal structure. Beginning this fiscal year I have taken on a new role as Associate Director of Civic Engagement. This position will allow me to look at how we use technology in our three main focus areas and work collaboratively with all Community Impact managers within United Way to implement change. These three areas are the following:

  • Preparing children to succeed in school
  • Preparing people to be self-sufficient
  • Improving the ability of seniors to live independently for as long as possible

As I expand my role the daily operations of T4T will be managed by Antoinette Hammond. She will be the primary T4T staff member and will continue to provide you with information about T4T and United Way. Some of the new events and projects she is working on are listed below. Thanks for your past and continued support!

IBM Hardware Access Fund
Time is running out! The Hardware Access Fund application deadline is Friday, October 6, 2006 at 5:00PM! As you may already know, IBM generously supports T4T and this region by donating tens of thousands of dollars of desktops, laptops, servers, and IBM Young Explorer computers each year. To help ensure this product donation is used as effectively as possible, IBM funnels its equipment donation through T4T, and the ONLY way to request and/or receive this hardware donation is through your T4T membership. If you have any questions please contact Gerald Odom at 215-665-2525 or godom@uwsepa.org.
