"The VNA wants to provide the right kind of care to empower and assist our clients, but also soundly manage this agency so it's secure into the future. Behind the personal interaction and caring part of our job, we must be sophisticated in terms of business administration. By being a member agency, we have access UWSEPA's internal and external expert resources to get the information we need to manage effectively and securely into the future."

"The support the UWSEPA provides allows us to proactively respond to emerging health and human service needs and develop creative responses. For example, with the help of UWSEPA resources, PHMC has been able to wed our health promotion activities with our addictions programs. We have developed a nutrition program targeting women with addictions - many of whom are affected by chronic health problems, such as diabetes and hypertension. Through the help of UWSEPA, we are now implementing a program to educate women in treatment for addictions about the importance of nutrition and changes in diet for improving their overall health."

"One of the most significant things for us has been the networking and opportunities to collaborate with a diverse range of service providers. We've had the opportunity to network with other agencies in the AIDS arena, but United Way brings us to another level. It helps put the issue in a larger context, and it gives us an opportunity to educate other service providers.... This helps us reach a lot of people we might not have had access to otherwise."
