Vince Papale Rallies United Way Volunteers for Days Of Caring

(Philadelphia, PA) Former Philadelphia Eagle Vince Papale rallied volunteers gathered at United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania in Philadelphia in preparation for United Way’s annual Days of Caring event.

The 16th annual United Way Days of Caring will be held on September 15th and 19th. Each year, United Way recruits thousands of volunteers from area companies to complete hundreds of projects that benefit our region in a two day celebration of volunteerism and community impact. This year, United Way is expecting close to 5,000 volunteers to participate.

Days of Caring sites are located throughout Philadelphia, Montgomery, Chester, and Delaware counties and include hands on projects such as gardening, painting, revitalizing playgrounds, making repairs for senior citizens, reading to children, and more.

“Participating in United Way’s Days of Caring has been particularly meaningful to our agency. It’s one of those rare opportunities where both our staff and clients get to see that there are people on the outside who really want to make a difference. It puts a smile on everyone’s face,” said Heather Keafer, Director of Development and Public Relations at Women Against Abuse.

In addition to the many agency-based projects, United Way will also host hundreds of volunteers at signature sites located at Cobbs Creek Park in West Philadelphia and Elmwood Park in Norristown.
