United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania can address some of most pressing and critical needs in our community by participating in public policy using these tools:

  • Communications: Improving communications between policy makers and nonprofit agencies
  • Partnerships: facilitate coalitions of agencies around policy issues
  • Foster systemic changes
  • Capacity Building

Using these tools, the United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania 2006-07 public policy agenda concentrates on four key issues:

Nonprofit Public Policy
Nonprofit agencies need to advocate for their members, consumers, and communities as every major human service issue is affected by public sector funding and regulatory activity. To successfully engage in public policy, the United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania is working with agencies to build capacity in numerous ways.
