UNITED WAY'S AREAS OF NEED

United Way researches the issues affecting our region today and provides the necessary vision and leadership to provide solutions to help resolve the most pressing problems in our community.

Through a culmination of the research efforts and in order to bring the greatest value to improving the quality of life throughout our community, United Way has implemented a Community Impact Plan. The Community Impact Plan is a focused, results-oriented plan to strengthen our community by addressing the most pressing problems in these three key areas of need:

• Last year we connected 2,589 low-income children to pediatric care.
• Provided 176 scholarships to teachers for early childhood education.
• Conducted parenting skills classes for 1,350 young people.
• Mentored 2,000 low-income families through Family Centers in low-income neighborhoods.
