United Way Kicks off Stuff the Bus Project June 21, 2008
Part of Nationwide ‘United Way Day of Action’
WHAT: From coast to coast on the longest day of the year, United Ways across the country will participate in a nationwide ‘Day of Action’ as a call-to-action for individuals to “LIVE UNITED” – to give, advocate and volunteer on issues relating to education, income or health.
In Philadelphia, United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania will kick off their annual Stuff the Bus project by collecting school supplies for homeless children with the help of the Independents Coffee Cooperative. With thirteen participating coffeehouses located in Philadelphia and beyond, the Independents will show their communities how they “LIVE UNITED” by serving as drop off locations for school supplies.

WHY: People all across the country are going to take action on June 21st to Give Advocate and Volunteer in the areas of Education, Income and Health. United Way’s Stuff the Bus project will benefit 2,000 children in 40 shelters throughout the region by supplying each of them with everything they need to start school off on the right foot.
Advancing the common good involves creating opportunities for a better life for all. When individuals, organizations, governments and businesses set aside their special interests and work together, we can make a difference. Living United means being part of the change
