LIVE UNITED: Food for Thought

Give Now to LIVE UNITED: Food for ThoughtThe Issue:

In this current economic crisis families are struggling to stretch fewer dollars farther while food prices continue to rise. In Southeastern Pennsylvania, donations to food banks are down by 32% this year, and yet there has been at 30% increase in demand for food.

Traditionally, the cold winter months following the holidays are when donations decline and the food supplies drop. After agencies reported that over 120,000 adults and children in our area are being forced to eat less or skip meals – United Way brought together agencies that provide food and those that connect people to government benefits to coordinate an effort to ensure that no one goes hungry.

How to LIVE UNITED:

  • GIVE to LIVE UNITED: Food for Thought
  • ADVOCATE by supporting public policies that will strengthen anti-hunger programs and ensure that fewer people in our region are going to bed hungry.
  • VOLUNTEER to help out at a local food bank or to get the word out about where to go for help if you are in need of food.
