We're Recruiting Education Volunteers to Increase the Graduation Rate in Southeastern Pennsylvania
On United Way's National Day of Action - June 21, 2011 - United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania issued a call-to-action to our community in the Greater Philadelphia region: to become volunteer readers, tutors and mentors to help increase the graduation rate in our region.
This is part of a national movement: United Way is inviting individuals and organizations across the country to get personally involved in education -- seeking to recruit one million education volunteers over the next three years to help kids boost academic achievement.
Anyone with passion and commitment can help a young person achieve greater academic success. You can offer to commit one hour, one day or one year - during school, after school or even on the weekends.
Sometimes kids just need someone who believes in them. Join United Way and come together with our community to show the power of Living United.
Volunteer reading, tutoring or mentoring can change the life of a young person. If one million of us do it, it will change our nation.
Together, we can make a difference.
