UNITED WAY NAMES LON GREENBERG
AS CITIZEN VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR

 

 

Lon R. Greenberg, United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania's Citizen Volunteer of the Year Award recipientUnited Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania was pleased to honor Lon R. Greenberg, Chairman and CEO of UGI Corporation/ AmeriGas with the 2009 United Way Citizen Volunteer of the Year Award at their annual Champions for Impact awards celebration on May 1, 2009. Champions for Impact is United Way’s signature event celebrating local donors, advocates and volunteers who joined the LIVE UNITED movement to advance the common good during the 2008 fundraising campaign. This year, United Way raised over $51 million for the community.

The Citizen Volunteer of the Year Award is given to a volunteer in recognition of longstanding leadership, generosity, creativity and passion for helping to strengthen communities through United Way. Mr. Greenberg was selected for the award because of his tireless work in the Greater Philadelphia philanthropic community and for his outstanding civic leadership as a United Way Board member, committee chair, volunteer and fundraiser.

“This year has shown United Way both promise and challenge. United Way is fortunate to have leaders like Lon Greenberg join us in our mission to advance the common good,” said Jill Michal, President and CEO of United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania.
